Dear DISH Network: I am writing you to let you know that as a consumer I think Turbo HD is a horrible name. What exactly is turbo about your high definition programming? When I think turbo, I think faster. Does this mean your high definition programming will get to my house faster? Or that I can watch a high definition program in less time than with cable or DIRECTV? Perhaps you are implying that you have more HD selection than your competition. If this is the case, allow me to suggest some better names for your service: Total HD Ultimate…

I did a double-take when I read my TiVo email newsletter today. I thought I was seeing things. It said you can now watch YouTube videos right from your TiVo. The newsletter included a screenshot of a familiar TiVo screen but with a new YouTube item. I didn't read another word of the newsletter. Instead I ran straight to my family room and brought up the TiVo menu. It was right around this time that I remembered that I had recently received the TiVo summer service upgrade on my TiVo HD DVR. The battle came down to David vs. David, two men both with excellent voices but drastically different singing styles. As I always do, I TiVo'd the show so I could watch it later and zip through the commercials. Unfortunately I neglected (more like forgot) to use a feature on TiVo called padding which allows you to add extra time to the recording beyond the scheduled ending time. This…
