I mentioned at the very end of yesterday's blog post that the NFL season was about to kick off and I left my readers with a resounding "uh-oh". The reason for the "uh-oh" is that my new antenna-only television setup is going to cripple my ability to watch my favorite NFL team, the Green Bay Packers. A comment I often hear from my clients when helping them with their computer is that they are afraid they are going to break something. Usually they have figured out how to turn the computer on and off but beyond that they are afraid to touch it. These are the same people that get into a 1 or 2 ton hunk of metal (they of course call it their "car") every day to get to work. A neighborhood kid that lives down the street from me is heading off to his first year of college this fall. He recently mentioned to me that he wants a new laptop but probably won't be getting one since his parents already have a desktop computer lined up for him. Participants in Noobie classes often ask me if it really is important to backup the data on their computer. I usually answer this first by asking them how they would feel if they got home that day and found out their computer was stolen. How would they replace their financial data stored in Quicken or Microsoft Money? What about all of the digital pictures they have downloaded from their camera to their computer over the past several years?
