What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a way to receive Internet content such as blog entries, news stories, and podcasts delivered directly to you in one central, organized location. In order to view RSS feeds you enter the web site feed address (URL) for content you would like to receive in an RSS reader, such as Google Reader, NewsGator or Microsoft Outlook and you will automatically begin to receive regular updates.

The benefit of using RSS is that you don't have to visit dozens of web sites to view their content. Instead the content from all of your web sites is pulled down to one central location, your RSS feed reader program. Your RSS feed reader program will also take care of marking which items are new and how many unread items you have.
